The Canonical Erection of the Diocese of Libmanan will be on June 19, 2009 at the Cathedral of St. James the Apostle, Libmanan, Camarines Sur. The Metropolitan Archbishop Leonardo Z. Legaspi himself will preside the said rite as Solemn Canonical Erection of the Diocese of Libmanan. Previously created on December 9, 1989 as a prelature and Canonically erected on March 19, 1990, Libmanan Seat is now elevated into a Diocese, having fully grown through pastoral programs as a Local Church, by the Vatican on March 25, 2009, Feast of the Annunciation.  Simultaneous with this event is the installation of Libmanan's first bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev. Jose R. Rojas Jr. He was appointed bishop-prelate on May 19, 2008 to succeed Most Rev. Prospero N. Arellano, now Bishop Emeritus.
